Ignitia’s participation in the 2023 AGRF Summit

Africa Food Systems Forum – AGRF is the world’s number one forum on African agriculture and food systems. It brings together different stakeholders like ignitia to share ideas on how to move African food systems forward.

With seven years left to 2030, stringent actions are needed for Africa to be able to feed herself. The 13th annual AGRF summit will be held in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania from 5th to 8th of September. Hosted by Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of the Republic of Tanzania, the summit’s theme is Recover, Regenerate, Act: Africa’s Solutions to Food Systems Transformation. This theme revolves around building back better Food Systems, spearheaded by women and youth.

Tanzania will be the first country to host the AGRF summit after being rebranded to Africa’s Food Systems in 2022. This annual Summit brings together policymakers, leaders, scientists, youth, and farmers to position Africa as the place for investment, innovation, and to advance more diverse food systems.

Both private and public attendees of the summit will hold dialogues on food systems, the focus being regeneration as a means of creating wealth for Africa.

ignitia, in conjunction with the AGRF 2023 summit, seek to find solutions to:

  1. Nurture innovations and build country solutions that will translate the commitments made into actionable strategies and progress on the ground.
  2. Grow the coordinated and large-scale measures by stakeholders in different sectors.
  3. Acknowledge and reward champions and celebrate country pathways.

In the previous summits, current and former Heads of State and leaders from governments said they are committed to support and drive efforts to build a productive, profitable, and sustainable ecosystem and build food security and change food systems in Africa.

Ignitia, for instance, will be able to discuss how our tools and expertise help farmers and stakeholders to make timely and smart solutions with our most accurate weather forecast. Our main areas include but not limited to:

  1. Accelerating innovation and productivity with custom solutions based on our high precision weather intelligence.
  2. Generating more value for customers and producers by incorporating high precision forecasts on their apps, websites, and platforms with easy integration.
  3. Making crops more profitable with 7-day to 6-month weather intelligence and suggestions for when to plant, apply fertilizers, and harvest.
  4. Producing better and more forecasts in a week without checking the internet.

All roads lead to Dar-Es-Salaam Tanzania and so does ignitia. This forum comes at a time when Africa, hit by the effects of climate change, is joining hands to find solutions that safeguard livelihoods. You are free to join ignitia to kickstart important conversations and surface new ideas that can be shared across Africa. See you there!
